Because life is cyclical in terms of repeated lessons (until we understand them) it can sometimes seem as though we are being foolish, walking down the exact same path towards the exact same trap...when in reality it is simply an opportunity for a corrective emotional experience. Life presents us with situations that are similar to those that may have led to past trauma so that we may approach the same hole in the ground and either build a bridge over it, walk around it, or perhaps climb down into it. Instead of being attacked by a similar looking dog we are able to scratch it behind the ears.
